Although Copenhagen is located far from all my other destinations, it had been on my bucket list for quite some time as such I made it a mission to check it out. Copenhagen, as with all Scandinavian countries, is insanely expensive. Luckily, I was able to stay with an old exchange friend but other hostel alternatives with great reviews were Danhostel & Generator Hostel. As my friend was busy packing for a move to Japan, I had the place mostly to myself and did a few free walking tours (highly recommend SANDEMAN. I did the City Free Walking Tour (Tips only) and the Harbour Tour (I think this one had a fee).) I recommend the former.
Spots worth checking out: Nyhabn Harbour (of course), Nytorv and Gammeltorv, Freetown Christiania, the Danish Royal Balance & Marble Church. Lackluster was the Little Mermaid Statue (quite a trek to get there) and missed opportunities were the Calsberg Brewery Tour & Noma (was rated top restaurant in the world back in 2011/2012). I was also disappointed I could not ride a bike in the City of Bikes. Danes love their biking and the City had a bunch of free bikes available. But considering I am about 150cm and the average Dane is around 180cm, I did not fair so well when trying to ride a Danish bike.

Talk about socialism! Here I thought Canada was a socialist country.. Denmark (or Scandinavia for that matter) does it to a whole new level. Surrounded by gorgeous friendly people with beautiful sights and forward thinking culture, Copenhagen is an interesting place!
