Italy & Croatia Cruise with Celebrity
Being a little busy with every micro detail involved in planning a wedding, I unfortunately did not have the time or energy to dedicate to trip planning for our honeymoon. So I took the easy route and booked a cruise. This marked my first true cruise experience (Mexico City as a little tween didn’t really count and Antarctica aboard Ponant was not a realistic comparison) so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Fast forward, I can now conclude that I am not a cruise person. Although I love the idea of going to bed and being at the next destination or having “Sea Days” to relax and do literally nothing, I do not think anybody under the age of 50 should travel via cruise as a first choice (unless travelling with family).
Putting aside my personal vendetta against Celebrity Cruise line for Tripadvisor, my primary issue against cruise travel is the fact that I don’t like hard deadlines. You tell me Port of Call is at 10PM but we have to be aboard by 9:30PM ;which pretty much means my day is over by like 8PM. Rushing to soak in a city with only a few hours to spare is not my cup of tea.
In any case, this trip involved the following:
Sept 17 – Fly from Vancouver to Venice
Sept 18 – Stay in Venice
Sept 19 – Board Cruise from Venice
Sept 20 – Day at Sea
Sept 21 – Taormina, Italy
Sept 22 – Amalfi Coast, Italy
Sept 23 – Tuscany, Italy (instead of Rome)
Sept 24 – Tuscany & Florence/Pisa, Italy
Sept 25 – Day at Sea
Sept 26 – Day at Sea
Sept 27 – Dubrovnik, Croatia
Sept 28 – Dubrovnik, Croatia
Sept 29 – Fly from Venice to London
Sept 30 to Oct 2 – London
